Wednesday marked the anniversary of a dark chapter in Tulsa history; 96 years ago, race riots devastated 35 city blocks in Tulsa's Greenwood district.
People gathered for a Walk for Reconciliation beginning at John Hope Franklin Park and ending at the site of the 1921 riots.
"This time, instead of fighting, we're going to embrace one another, and we're gonna connect with each other and celebrate the work that we've done over the 96 years and the work that's still yet to be done," said Reverend Marlin Lavanhar with All Souls Unitarian Church.
After the walk, All Souls Unitarian Church presented a musical production, "Soulful Journey" at Greenwood Cultural Center.
