Nearly 18,000 people took advantage of early voting this weekend in Tulsa County, crushing the 2012 and 2008 election numbers. It set a new early voting record in Tulsa.

There was no talk of Trump, no talk of Clinton. Election officials kept the mood light-hearted while voters waited patiently.

"Everybody's in a really good mood; nobody's complaining,” said voter Nancy Larimore. “Nobody's being cranky."

Many came prepared for the moment they'd walk through the door and vote.

"I've got my cheat sheet here so that I can go back and quickly go through the ballot," said voter Marcus Garrett.

Voters at Hardesty Library said the wait was 2-3 hours to get inside. Many say they don't mind the wait.

"I think it's worth the wait just because I get to take part in the first time and hopefully make a difference," said voter Ellie Chapple.

Ellie Chapple had her 18th birthday just in time and hopes her vote Saturday will impact more than this election.

"Set an example for my brothers as well and like all my friends to get out there and vote because it does make a difference," stated Chapple.

She plans to be a lifelong voter, like Marc Garrett, who voted for the first time in 1972.

"I've never missed voting, nor should anybody as far as I’m concerned," said Chapple.

Others have that same determination, even if it means bringing their own seat to wait in line.

The next chance to vote in person is Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
