A man is dead after he was hit by an SUV while walking across the street in a crosswalk near 34th and Peoria, Tulsa Police said.

Witnesses at the scene said the man was crossing the street when a woman driving an SUV hit him and dragged him down the street before finally crashing into a bush and coming to a stop.

Lindsey Erin Smith, 25, was arrested at the scene.

Debris was scattered across the road and the scene was taped off as TPD investigates. TPD said it is talking to patrons in the area bars and checking for surveillance video from the businesses.

The road was closed as police investigated the deadly wreck. The victim has not been identified, but police say he is 35 years old.

An arrest report states Smith smelled strongly of alcohol and showed other signs of being under the influence. The arresting officer said she voluntarily admitted to having "two beers" without being asked.

Smith was booked on complaints of first-degree manslaughter and failure to yield to a pedestrian. Any additional complaints are pending.
