The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports a sleepy driver crashed on a Tulsa highway early Saturday severely injuring a child passenger.
In their report, the OHP says driver admitted to falling asleep prior to the 3 a.m. crash and a six-year-old girl was taken to the hospital with head and internal injuries. The OHP says child was admitted in critical condition.
Troopers said the crash happened on westbound Interstate-44 near the Memorial Drive exit when a 2007 Honda Fit, driven by Yesenia Lopez, 27, of Tulsa went off the highway and hit a concrete barrier.
Lopez was also taken to the hospital, but was treated and released. A second passenger in the car, Alejandro Sanchez, 41, of Tulsa was not injured, according to the OHP.
