Kristin Chenoweth is back home in Broken Arrow Tuesday.
The Tony Award winner Broadway actress visited her alma mater to make a large donation to fund Broken Arrow Schools' Fine Arts programs.
"With the recent state budget cuts, it is more important than ever that students receive a well-rounded education and that especially includes the arts," said Mark Frie, ARTSOK president.
"Kristin's love and pride for her community has always been apparent and is greatly appreciated more than she'll ever know."
Chenoweth's Art and Education Fund donated $20,000 to BAPS through the ARTSOK Regional Arts Alliance of Broken Arrow to use for fine arts education. Her fund has donated $90,000 dollars to Broken Arrow Schools over the last three years.
"I love singing, I love doing the concert work. Because of music, I get to give back to music," Chenoweth said.
She presented the check Tuesday at Vandever Elementary, where she attended elementary school. Chenoweth also threw a cookie party for the students.
Chenoweth will also host the third annual Kristin Chenoweth master class at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center before a live audience. That's where she mentors 10 future musical stars.
