OK’s Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Set To Help Louisiana Flood Victims

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief in Oklahoma is sending help to flood victims in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The relief organization will send 60 volunteers, a large feeding unit, and a shower unit, which will be based at a church in Baton Rouge. The feeding unit has the capability of providing 30,000 meals each day.

The volunteers from Oklahoma are expected to provide 13,000 meals each day to feed volunteers, flood victims, first responders and people staying at shelters. Disaster assessment teams and Chaplains will be among the 60 volunteers from Oklahoma heading to Louisiana.

The group will leave sometime Tuesday or early Wednesday and will be able to start cooking meals Wednesday night.

Southern Baptist Disaster relief will rotate teams each week for about a month.

Flood recovery teams from Oklahoma will also be sent to Louisiana to help with cleanup once the water recedes.
