One person is dead and four others injured in a shooting on 6th Street in downtown Austin just after the bars closed. The suspect is on the loose.

Austin police say they received multiple calls for shots fired in the 200 block of East 6th Street just after 2:15 a.m., according to CBS affiliate KEYE-TV. Investigators say officers arrived on the scene to find a woman believed to be in her 20s dead from gunshot wounds.

Three other women believed to be in their 30s were taken to UMCB with serious injuries. Investigators say the incident appears to have started as a disturbance between several people and weapons were fired into the crowd.

There was a second scene where shots were fired several blocks away on Trinity Street which initially raised concerns about an active shooter situation. Police later said the second scene was not related to the 6th Street incident, and there was never an active shooter situation.

The assault suspect, believed to be in his 20s, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
