A group has formed to oppose the next Vision package, claiming many of the proposals are not the responsibility of the City of Tulsa, or unnecessary.
“Citizens for a Better Vision” says the fire and police departments do not need more personnel and that Tulsa does not need a new low water dam.
In a media release announcing a Tuesday news conference, the group said projects for higher education and a new headquarters for BMX are not the responsibility for the City.
Ronda Vuillemont-Smith and Michael Bates are leading the group, which plans a news conference Tuesday to expand on their reasons to oppose the Vision package.
The group noted with the economy in a downturn, taxpayers are being asked to approve the extension of the Vision sales tax and a new sales tax for education, which combined would push Oklahoma’s sales tax to one of the highest rates in the country.
