We've all heard of the Lucus Oil Chili Bowl going on at the River Spirit Event Center at Expo Square, but there’s another Chili Bowl competition you may not know about.
The R.C. Chili Bowl is happening in the Mustang Arena on the other side of the fairgrounds. Its organizer, Scott Ernst said it’s the second year for the event.
"This is the R.C. Chili Bowl. It's our version of the big show that's next door," he said.
There are 280 entries from all over the country. One group, from Indiana, took the week off work to come to Tulsa for some remote control racing.
"This is our world of racing. These cars are scaled down racing machines, they go incredibly fast,” Ernst said.
They are one-tenth the size of the real race cars, but the faster ones can reach speeds of 40 miles per hour.
There’s even a pit area where racers make adjustments based on how the cars are doing on the track.
The R.C. Chili Bowl is free and open to the public all day Thursday and Friday. You can find more information here.
