Tulsa native Bill Hader says he worked as a voice consultant for the new movie "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Hader, a Saturday Night Live alum who has moved on to making movies, says he helped provide the voice for BB-8, a new droid character created for the movie.
Hader told HitFix in comments posted on Tuesday, "J.J. screwed around with this sound effects app on his iPad that was attached to a talk box operated by me. It looked ridiculous but it made BB-8's voice. At first I tried doing a voice, but we all agreed it sounded too human."
Hader is credited in the movie as "BB-8 Voice Consultant, as is Ben Schwartz, who's known for his parts in "House of Lies" and "Parks and Recreation."
Schwartz talked about his unique Star Wars role on social media, tweeting, "You're looking at a bonafide BB8 voice over consultant. And nothing makes me happier. This movie is amazing."
The movie opens on Friday, December 18, 2015.
