A judge sentenced a Tulsa man to two consecutive life terms for killing his girlfriend's 18-month-old daughter.

Angel Benjamin died in May of 2013

A jury convicted Scott Allen Bolden, 27, of murder in the case on October 30, 2015. On Monday, December 14, 2015, Judge William LaFortune sentenced him to two consecutive life terms.

The girl's mother, Heidi Benjamin, told police she didn't call for help after noticing something was wrong with her daughter who had been left in Bolden's care.

Police records show the couple called for help when the girl lost consciousness and they couldn't wake her up.

Doctors told police the girl had a significant brain injury as well as several new and old bruises.

Records show the mother said Bolden was taking care of the girl while she was in the shower, and realized something was wrong when she finished.

In December of 2014, Benjamin pleaded guilty to one count of permitting child abuse and one count of child neglect. A judge sentenced her to 14 years in prison on the first count and 15 years on the second, but suspended the second sentence.

She's due for a judicial review of her sentence on December 22, 2015.
