Firefighters have put out a grass fire in west Tulsa. The fire was near some electrical transformers in the 500 block of South 57th West Avenue.

A Public Service of Oklahoma spokesperson said they believe the grass fire caused a transformer to blow which in turn helped fuel more wildfire. PSO said they had to de-energize 242 customers for safety reasons as they made repairs.

The grass fire was in an open space near the Gilcrease Expressway, and no homes were threatened.

Several crews responded to quickly battle the fire and the wind. No word yet on what caused the grass fire.
