New Reasor's Concept Store Closer To Opening Brookside Doors

While it might be a new concept, it’s still a Reasor’s Grocery store, just with a little twist and a theme of 'Bring Your Table To Life.'

Two years ago, Reasor’s bought an old Food Pyramid building in Tulsa’s Brookside neighborhood, and the area's been waiting for it to open ever since.

Grocery stores in Brookside are limited; but on August 5th, the 50,000 square foot Reasor’s at 41st and Peoria will open with a new look, according to COO Brent Edstrom.

"I don't think anything like this exists in Tulsa or anywhere in Midwest for that matter," he said.

It’s still a Reasor’s Grocery store but with a little twist - vaulted ceilings, thick wooden beams, and the Brookside Cookhouse restaurant - and a theme of Bring Your Table To Life.

Edstrom feels like it’s perfect for that part of town.

"Of course you can't deny the fact we are in Brookside. There is only one Brookside in Tulsa, and it is something to fit the neighborhood and shoppers here," he said.

The store is still going to carry all the Reasor's products you're used to, like Griffin’s Jelly*, but they’ll also have some new options, like Scotch Bonnet pepper jelly; both of which are made right here in Oklahoma.

"There's more natural, organic, and more local product for the customers to choose from. We wanted to bring all those elements in," Edstrom said.

Food at the Brookside Cookhouse will all be made from scratch, and if you want, made to order. Reasor’s Food Service Manager Bill Harris said they are ready to meet any dietary restrictions.

“Vegan, gluten free customers, people who want whole grain," he said.

Reasor's hired and trained nearly 200 new employees and there will be registered dieticians and pharmacists on staff at all times - a more intimate feel than a typical grocery store pharmacy.

Edstrom said, "It will be a throwback to an old store within a store - like an old corner drug. We are missing a soda fountain if we had a soda fountain it would be just perfect, but there was no room to put that in."

The hours will be 6 a.m. until 1 a.m.

Other Reasor's will undergo renovations or updates - their logos will change and certain elements we see in the store will be incorporated into those - but the Brookside store will be the only one of its kind.
