An American Airlines 757-200 with a damaged interior arrived at the airline's maintenance facility at Tulsa International Airport Tuesday afternoon.

The plane was en route from Dallas to San Francisco on Monday when passengers noticed an interior panel breaking loose and notified the crew. The crew made an emergency landing in San Francisco.

According to the web site FlightAware the jet arrived in Tulsa at about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Passengers on flight 2293 told CBS News the body of the aircraft shook violently as interior panels on both sides of the plane fell off.

Airline spokesman Matt Miller said an air duct malfunctioned. He would not comment on when the plane last went in for a heavy maintenance check that would have involved testing the ducts. All American planes are "in airworthy condition when dispatched for a flight," he said.
