A man who climbed a utility tower was electrocuted in Owasso on Saturday afternoon when he came into contact with 138,000 volts of electricity, police said.
According to officers, the man was between 50 and 75 feet in the air behind Rejoice Christian School when he was electrocuted, then he fell from the tower to the ground.
Witnesses and medics attempted to render aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Detectives are trying to identify the victim and determine why he climbed the tower. Police say there was not an active work order for the power lines and the victim does not appear to be a utility worker.
The state medical examiner will assist in efforts to identify the man, who police say appears to be in his late 20s-early 30s.
