A man was critically injured while being mugged in a parking lot outside a Tulsa hotel just after midnight Saturday. The victim was smoking a cigarette outside the Select Hotel on Skelly Drive and Yale when two men held him up.
Police say one of the men pulled out a hand gun and shot the victim, a 29-year-old man. One bullet passed through his shoulder, and one hit him in the forehead.
Although the man was able to return to his room and call for help, authorities at the scene said he was critically injured with a fractured skull. They were not sure at first if it was a gunshot wound or blunt force trauma; however, the arrest report for the suspect that was captured said the bullet hit his forehead then traveled around his head and exited the rear.
EMSA transported him to a Tulsa hospital.
Police say security officers tracked down one suspect, 22-year-old Vavan Brown. He was booked on complaints of attempted robbery with a firearm and assault with a deadly weapon.
His bond is set at $75,000.
