Owasso Police are at the scene of a robbery at the IBC bank Saturday afternoon. The branch near 96th Street North and Garnett was robbed at 2:48 p.m., according to Deputy Chief of Police Jason Woodruff.
A man carrying a duffle bag gave an employee a note saying there was a bomb in the building that would detonate unless the employee gave the man money.
The employee complied, and the man left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
"The IBC Bank building has been cleared by the bomb squad. No explosive devices were found," Woodruff said.
Woodruff said Owasso police will be working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to investigate the bank robbery which he called a "rare event" for the city.
The suspect is described as a white male with a stocky build and dark facial hair. He was wearing a blue-gray shirt with long sleeves, sunglasses and a cloth hat. He was driving a tan or green small SUV, Woodruff said.
