Tulsa County Issues Seven-Day Burn Ban

Tulsa County has joined the list of counties across Oklahoma which have issued a burn ban. The county commissioners approved the seven-day burn ban at their meeting Monday morning.

Tulsa County Emergency Management director Roger Joliff said under the burn ban it will be illegal to burn trash or conduct a controlled burn. Gas and electric grills are still allowed if they are used on a concrete or non-flammable surface such as gravel.

Grills should be watched by an adult who has access to a water source. 

Joliff said every fire chief in Tulsa County was in favor of the ban and said the commissioners will revisit the ban next Monday to decide whether to extend it for an additional seven days. 

Other eastern Oklahoma counties with burn bans in place include Adair, Craig, Creek, LeFlore, Okmulgee, Pittsburg, Rogers, Sequoyah and Wagoner.
