Tulsa Police say one person is dead and two others in critical condition after a head-on collision on Memorial Drive. It happened at about 2:15 a.m. near 24th Street, and police believe alcohol played a role in the fatality crash.
Sergeant Darren Bristow told News On 6 that a silver Mustang was southbound on Memorial at 24th Street when the driver crossed a raised center median into the path of a northbound Nissan Versa.
The Mustang was hit on the passenger side, and the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mustang was taken to the hospital in critical condition, police say.
There were three people in the northbound, black Versa. Bristow said two of them were critically injured. The third has non-life threatening injuries.
"Our primary investigation right now - we believe alcohol was probably a contributing factor to this wreck," said Tulsa Police Sergeant Darren Bristow.
"It was right at the time that bars were closing so probably leaving one of them, trying to get home at a high rate of speed.
"Probably due to intoxication crossed over the center median at the crest of that hill."
The two cars came rest in the driveway of a chiropractor's office in the east side of the street. Tulsa firefighters freed the driver and passenger of the Mustang from the battered vehicle.
