A 3-year-old boy was found wandering in the street in north Tulsa on Wednesday morning, police confirmed.
A couple said they saw the boy near Pine Street and Sheridan Road at 9:30 a.m.
When police arrived, they went to the child's home and found there were no adults there, only an 8-year-old sibling who was supposed to be babysitting while the mother was at work. The mother told police she had to leave the children home alone or she would have lost her job.
There was food and water in the apartment, and the apartment was reasonably clean, according to police.
TPD Officer Jill Robertson said there is no law in Oklahoma regarding age limitations of supervision of children, so the mother won't face any charges for leaving her 3-year-old with an 8-year-old.
The children were placed in Department of Human Services custody.
