American Airlines' jets will have a new look for the first time in more than 40 years.
Thursday morning, American unveiled a new logo for its aircraft during a news conference in Dallas, the first fleet wide rebranding since 1968.
In a video on its website, American said the rebranding is the next step in its journey to modernize the airline.
"While American Airlines completes the evaluation of whether a merger could build on its strengths, it is important that it remains steadfast in the work that has been done and continues to be done to modernize the airline. Today, it takes the next step in that journey by revealing its much-anticipated new logo and livery."
The airline will show off the new logo on one of its planes Thursday morning at DFW Airport in Dallas.
