An historic Green Country building is no more.  A fire destroyed a Vinita building Saturday night.

On Sunday, the owners spent the day trying to salvage what they could.

The building, which dates back to pre-statehood, housed offices for Phoenix Coal Sales and The Hartley Law Firm for years.

But before that, owners say it was a federal prison and even a candy factory.

"It was just a neat old building, we'd been rehabbing it and remodeling it and trying to get it back in shape and just kind of got it in good shape and we lost it," owner Clay Hartley said.

They say a lot of files were lost, but they are backed up on computers elsewhere.

Fire investigators believe the fire was caused by an electrical problem.

No one was hurt in the fire.
