Arguments about an Oklahoma Senator's constitutional challenge of a proposal to raise the level of the Zink Dam in Tulsa will be heard in the Oklahoma Supreme Court this week.
Oral arguments for Senator Patrick Anderson's challenge are scheduled for Thursday, November 8, at 1:30 p.m.
Anderson, of Enid, filed a suit challenging the constitutionality of a new proposal to use bond money to raise the Zink Dam by three feet, so a city park could be developed in the area. Anderson argues that the proposal is unconstitutional, because the bonds were not approved for that purpose.
The bonds in question were approved in 2009, with the promise of $50 million in federal funding to build a series of low-water dams along the Arkansas River. Those funds were never appropriated and the state bonds were not issued.
