New employment numbers show that counties in eastern Oklahoma continue to have the highest unemployment rates in the state.
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission says LeFlore County had the state's highest unemployment rate in September, at 9.9 percent. Latimer County came in at 8.7 percent, followed by McCurtain and Sequoyah counties at 8.3 percent.
Overall, Oklahoma's unemployment rate was 5.2 percent in September. The state is tied with Iowa as the fourth-lowest unemployment rate in the country.
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission says Dewey County had the state's lowest unemployment rate in September at 2.3 percent, followed by Ellis County at 2.4 percent and Beaver County at 2.5 percent.
