The Creek County Sheriff's Office has confirmed a 4-year-old Sapulpa girl was assaulted by an intruder to her home early Friday morning.
The girl was discovered in her bedroom by her mother's boyfriend early Friday morning. Investigators were dispatched to the scene at 7 a.m.
"She was not able to talk to us much when we got there this morning," said Lt. Charles Redfern with the Creek County Sheriff's Office.
"We were able to get out of her basically her age. She was able to do that with hand signals. She was pretty traumatized."
Authorities said there is a broken window in the house, but it's not known if that's how the intruder entered the home.
At the time of the incident, the 4-year-old's mother was not home. Only the mom's boyfriend, the girl and the couple's younger child were in the house.
"The mom, of course, is in shock," Redfern said. "Our investigators right now are still speaking with people and speaking with family members and hopefully they come up with a suspect pretty soon and we can put this to rest."
And the sexual assault is not the only crime that happened here.
"Somebody had stabbed the dog and then took the dog and threw it behind another trailer over there, so we're thinking that's where the blood comes from the front porch," Redfern said.
Neighbors say the family has only lived in the home for a few months. Many are outraged that this could happen so close to home.
"It's just sick. It's really sick to think that somebody could do that to a little girl," Linda Pierce said, who lives in neighborhood.
The girl was taken to a Tulsa hospital for surgery. There's no update yet on her condition.
