JAY, Oklahoma -- Delaware County Sheriff Jay Blackfox is expected to submit his resignation to the county commissioners on Friday.
Word of Blackfox's resignation comes after the Delaware County commissioners voted this week to settle a federal lawsuit filed by female inmates at the jail.
The lawsuit detailed accusations that jailers harassed, fondled and even raped female inmates.

The commissioners say they will likely have to raise property taxes to pay for the $13.5 million settlement.
Shortly after the settlement announcement, News On 6 has learned the county commissioners asked for Blackfox's resignation.
Blackfox has been sheriff for 6 and a half years. He was re-elected to the job a little over two years ago.
