Opera Star Sarah Coburn Sings For Hundreds Of Oklahoma School Kids

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Hundreds of Oklahoma school children experienced one of the world's greatest operas today, in a performance that featured a renowned singer who happens to come from a famous family.

Sarah Coburn is an internationally acclaimed opera singer.  She's also the daughter of Senator Tom Coburn.

Today she performed before 2,300 Tulsa-area kids who packed the Performing Arts Center for a showing of "The Barber of Seville".

While she's performed all over the world and is one of the country's most famous sopranos, Sarah says she was thrilled to perform before today's audience.

"To me it's so encouraging to know that kids from Muskogee and Tulsa and Coweta and Catoosa are coming to learn about such a great art form at such an early age.   And hopefully it will inspire them to maybe study music, or set design or be in an orchestra."

There are two performances left of the show:
