TULSA, Oklahoma -- Illinois River commissioners have issued a warning about the dangers of high water.

They're recommending that children under 10 not float in canoes this weekend.

They also say inexperienced floaters should go with someone more experienced or wait until the water recedes.

The higher water may also be hiding underwater hazards like fallen trees and debris.

And of course, they always recommend people wear lifejackets and avoid drinking alcohol while on the water.
