NORMAN, Oklahoma – Former University of Oklahoma linebacker Daryl Hunt passed away Saturday from a heart attack at the age of 53.
Hunt was one of the greatest linebackers in Sooner history and still leads the program in career tackles with 530. He was one of the anchors of the dominant linebacker corps that played under Barry Switzer in the late ‘70s.
He was a three-time All-Big Eight performer and was named to the All-America team in 1977 and 1978. He moved on to the NFL and played for the Houston Oilers for six seasons, starting a total of 31 games.
