MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Tulsa Golden Hurricane opened Conference USA play on a sour note dropping a 77-72 decision to Memphis.
Larissa Williams led the Golden Hurricane (6-6, 0-1) with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Taleya Mayberry added 17 points.
The Golden Hurricane led by as much as 48-38 in the second half, but the Tigers (8-6, 0-1) went on a 13-2 run to take back the lead. The Tigers went up by eight with 7:22 left in the second half. TU climbed to within 71-68 with four minutes left but never got closer than that.
Brittany Carter had a game-high 19 points and Savannah Ellis had 12 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
