TULSA, Oklahoma – The Union School Board approved changes to the district's start and end times for the 2011-2012 school year Thursday night.
Elementary students will now start earlier Monday through Thursday, though those times will differ across the district.
Sixth grade students will also start earlier Monday through Thursday, while 7th-10th grade students will start later.
Start times will remain the same for 11th and 12th grade students Monday through Thursday, though the end time will be 20 minutes later, putting them out at 3:20 p.m. instead of 3 p.m.

Start and end times on Fridays will be modified due to what the district calls "Late Start Fridays," which gives teachers time to collaborate before the school day starts.
The district said it studied more than a dozen start and end time options for next year. The district said the goal of the time changes was to accommodate the new bus routes that will come with restructuring some schools, without raising transportation costs.
As part of the restructure, 10th grade students will move to Union High School, and Union Intermediate High School will become a 9th Grade Center.
