TULSA, OK -- The YMCA showed off its new downtown facility on Friday.
After many years, the organization says its old building just didn't work anymore. It held a ribbon cutting at the new "Y" inside the Mayo Building
The new facility features 23,000 feet of space to get fit. There's a lot of upgrades including two large workout areas, three separate classrooms for things like yoga and kickboxing. Plus, there's a steam room and even a place for massages.
Besides all the bells and whistles, the "Y" says location was also important.
"We are proud to be a part of the rehabilitation and restoration of this 100 year old building, the Mayo Building," said Susan Plank, YMCA spokesperson. "And we think it turned out just beautifully."
The YMCA is also celebrating its own century mark. The "Y" has been serving Tulsans for 100 years now.
