OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Transportation Commission approved a contract for the widening of a 1.5-mile stretch of Interstate 44 from 5th Street to Harvard Avenue in Tulsa.
It's the next phase of widening I-44 to six lanes through Tulsa.
The commission also approved a $21 million contract for widening U.S. Highway 169 to six lanes from I-244 and stretching five miles to the north.
Work on the 169 project should begin early next year.
