OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Police say a transient who was critically injured in a fight has died and a fellow transient has been arrested.
Sgt. Gary Knight says 40-year-old Chester Shields was beaten last Monday night in northwest Oklahoma City and taken to a hospital where he died Thursday.
Police arrested 41-year-old Michael Ray Crowell later Monday for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The complaint against Crowell has now been upgraded to first-degree murder.
Knight says the two men argued before fighting but the reason for the argument has not been determined.
