Edmond, OK -- An Oklahoma school district is considering drug testing its students.
That's because drug suspensions are up more than 50 percent in just two years in Edmond Public Schools.
The Edmond School Board says it wants to randomly drug test students. It would apply to those students who have parking spots on campus or participate in extracurricular activities.
The proposal does not include all students because courts have ruled that unacceptable in public schools.
"I'm not saying this is gonna get rid of all the drug problems with kids in Edmond but you know what if we save just a few kids it's money well spent," said Jim Carlile, Edmond Drug Free School Director.
The school board will hold public hearings before a vote is taken on the proposal.
