TULSA, OK -- Layoffs announced at the Tulsa World newspaper.
In a story on its web site Tuesday, the Tulsa World reports it has terminated 28 employees citing "deteriorating economic conditions nationwide and in the media business."
In the story, the Tulsa World reports 26 news staff members are included in the layoffs, which are effective immediately.
The newspaper says the staff was informed of the terminations Tuesday morning.
Managing Editor Susan Ellerbach says the total cuts represent about 5% of World Publishing Company's employees.
