Former School Librarian Accused Of Sex With Student

HARRAH, Okla. (AP) -- A former Harrah Junior High School librarian accused of having sex with a 15-year-old student is expected to surrender to authorities Monday.

Laura Kathleen Cantrell was charged Thursday in Oklahoma County District Court with second-degree rape and oral sodomy. The student was 15 at the time of the allegations in 2006.

Authorities began investigating the 40-year-old in January after she told a school resource officer to report a student was trying to extort money from her.

According to court papers, she said the boy threatened to tell police they had been sleeping together if she didn't give him $50.

A Harrah police detective wrote in an affidavit that Cantrell admitted to having sex with the boy four or five times last year.
