EDMOND, Okla. (AP) _ The University of Central Oklahoma has a new football coach.
Tracy Holland was introduced yesterday as the successor of Chuck Langston, who was fired last month amid allegations the football program broke NCAA rules by providing free housing and other benefits to players who weren't full-time students.
Holland told reporters he will do everything he can to return the program to national prominence.
Holland began his coaching career at Northern Colorado, his alma mater, in 1989.
He spent four years with the Bears under then-head coach Joe Glenn, who is now head coach at Wyoming. The team went 27-and-16 and made two appearances in the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Holland also coached the Frankfurt Knights of the Football League of Europe in 1993 and spent five seasons with that professional franchise.
He took an assistant coach position at Heritage Hall in 1999 and was named head coach in 2002.
Oklahoma Christian School hired Holland in 2005.
