The Leucadia National Corporation wants clearance to buy more than half of MCI's stock. MCI has about 1,800 workers in Oklahoma, mostly in Tulsa.

Leucadia is based in New York and plans to file with the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice regarding the purchase.

Leucadia owns Tulsaâ€™s WilTel, along with a plastic manufacturer, a mining company and two high-end wineries.
