Prospective college students from rural Oklahoma have some good news. Oklahoma-City based Chesapeake Energy Corporation pledged $500,000 to Oklahoma State University.

That money will fund scholarships for 100 rural students over the next five years.

OSU's president says the donation will help close the gap in funds available for rural families whose income places them just beyond the reach of federal and state grants.
