The city of Tulsa and the state of Oklahoma face a federal lawsuit from the survivors of the Tulsa Race Riot, and their descendants.

Calling it an historic day in American civil rights history, members of the Tulsa Reparations Coalition held a news conference to talk about the lawsuit. During the May 1921 riot, as many as 300 people were killed. Homes and businesses were burned down in a 35-block area.

Now, members of the reparations coalition say it is time to right a wrong. Riot survivors hope the lawsuit will improve race relations. Wess Young, Race Riot survivor "Individually we've got to look on each other as human beings. You see, the sun don't shine on just you, it shines on me too."

The group of volunteer lawyers working on the federal lawsuit includes a who's who of civil rights attorneys from across America.
