BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) _ Rioters hurled gasoline bombs at police and soldiers during overnight clashes between Catholic and Protestant residents in Northern Ireland, police said Sunday.
The violence broke out among a group of about 100 people in Belfast's North Queen Street area, a sectarian front line that has seen frequent rioting in recent months.
Rioters threw stones, bottles and 13 gasoline bombs at security forces called to the scene, police said. Several police vehicles were damaged.
Police were investigating, but could not confirm, a report that one man had been injured and treated at a hospital emergency room.
