SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) _ Two mild earthquakes struck Spokane Saturday night, authorities said.

The quakes were felt at 10:45 and 10:50, said Bob Stose, dispatcher for the Spokane County Fire Department.

``They were little rumbles. They weren't earth shattering or anything, just minor,'' he said.

Stose said there were no immediate reports of damage or emergencies.

A series of mild earthquakes struck Spokane on June 25, none with a magnitude above 3.4. Damage was limited to bricks falling from a few chimneys, cracked plaster and broken dishes,

The region is not historically prone to earthquakes, but scientists said the newly discovered Latah Creek fault could be rumbling to life again after a 1.5 million-year dormancy.

A 6.8-magnitude quake struck Western Washington on Feb. 28, causing more than $2 billion damage in the greater Seattle area but claiming no lives.
