UCO, ORU players score conference honors

(Undated-AP) -- Soccer players from Central Oklahoma and Oral Roberts have claimed honors in their respective conferences.

The Bronchos' Valerie Gutierrez is Lone Star Conference offensive player of the week and teammate Lisa Hansen is defensive player of the week.

Gutierrez is a junior from Moore who scored four goals last weekend as Central Oklahoma played Southern Nazarene and Saint Gregory's. Hansen led the defense that allowed opponents only eight shots in the two games.

ORU's Trey Vaut is the Mid-Continent men's player of the week. He's scored three times in the Golden Eagles' recent wins over Stetson and Lipscomb.

ORU's Jodi Kirkhuff is the Mid-Continent women's defensive player of the week. Kirkhuff is a mid-fielder who had one assist and two scores in matches against Portland State and Louisiana-Lafayette.
