Oklahoma's Gray earns third Big 12 Rookie of the Week honor

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ University of Oklahoma junior Taj Gray earns his third Big 12 Rookie of the Week honor after averaging 18 points and nine rebounds in wins over Connecticut and Baylor last week.

The 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward from Wichita, Kansas, also averaged 3.5 blocked shots and shot more than 60% from the field in the two wins last week.

Against Connecticut, Gray scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season. He also recorded four blocked shots. He followed with 13 points, eight rebounds and three rejections Saturday at Baylor.

Gray is averaging 15.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots for the season. He ranks eighth in the Big 12 in scoring, second in rebounding and second in blocked shots. His 7 double-doubles are tied for the league lead.
