The pump start card isn't a credit card or a pre-paid card. It's a simple way for QuikTrip to identify you. You just show your driver's license before you pump.
If you normally pay with a credit card, nothing's changed. But if you pay with cash, here's how it will work. When you pull up to the pump, swipe your "pump start" card, fill-up, then go inside and pay as usual. The pump won’t start unless you either pre-pay, or swipe your Pumpstart card.
QuikTrip spokesman Mike Thornbrugh: "I mean if you think about it common sense wise. If we know what your drivers license is then we know who you are then why would you think about stealing gas. there might be a few knuckleheads that will try but no many."
QuikTrip thinks this new program could help trim prices by a couple cents a gallon.
