OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry and Texas Governor Rick Perry are wagering a side of beef on this year's Red River Shootout college football game.
The side of beef will be donated to a charity in the state of the winning team from Saturday's game between Number Two Oklahoma and Number Five Texas.
Henry says he's looking forward to feeding hungry Oklahomans again this year. About 700 pounds of beef were donated to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma City last year after Oklahoma beat Texas 65-to-13. Homeland Stores provided a matching quantity to Perry's bet.
Perry says he expects the wheels to come off the Sooner Schooner as Texas coach Mack Brown's Longhorns put what he called a "Texas-sized whooping" on the Sooners.
Vegetarian groups in both states had asked the governors to bet something other than beef.
