OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- There have been fewer fatal traffic accidents in April this year than in 2006.

According to numbers from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, there have been 22 fatal accidents as of Saturday. Statistics from April 2006 show 40 had occurred by this time.

Overall, fatal accidents were down for the year to date.

DPS figures show there have been 172 accidents, compared with 192 by this time in 2006.
