ENID, Okla. (AP) Students at Emerson Junior High School and Lincoln Academy in Enid got an extra day off for the Christmas holiday thanks to a lightning strike.

The lightning hit transformers at the two schools and destroyed wiring into Emerson.

Because of the damage Enid school officials canceled classes at both schools Wednesday, which was to be the final day of classes before the holiday break.
