It's not what Tulsans are used to seeing, police officers in blue uniforms. After years patrolling the streets in green, Tulsa Police officers voted to switch to blue uniforms.
You'll only see a few blue uniforms out there right now and only on officers in standard, marked vehicles. They're trying out different fabrics and stitching to see what works best. The entire department will make the switch November 1st.
Tulsa Police officer William Dalsing: "The uniform that we're currently wearing we've had for about fifty years, but the quality has gone downhill. Only one company is really making it for us now, it's getting very very expensive which is always a consideration. It’s also not a uniform that's typically worn, a color combination that's typically worn by a metro police department."
The change won't cost taxpayers anything, since Tulsa Police officers have to pay for their own uniforms.
